Nurturing a positive future for Ballysally

A vibrant and innovative group of local organisations came together in 2010 to form the Ballysally Integrated Nurturing Project.

Funded by DSD under Neighbourhood Renewal, the group is made up of Focus on Family, Ballysally Primary School, Ballysally Presbyterian Church, Coleraine SureStart Partnership and Ballysally Nursery School.

Local children and families benefit in a whole range of fun and engaging ways including parents’ group sessions to explore positive family life, nurturing young children and providing tailored support in the Sunshine Room at the Primary School, meeting the changing needs of young and old people alike through the work of the Church, providing a huge range of activities, events and support via the SureStart team and helping children and families with a smooth transition from nursery to primary school.

As one parent on the Primary School programme put it, “The staff have been a great support and are always there for a chat and to offer advice. They have given us lots of ideas and activities to use at home. It is a joy for me to hear him talking about all his friends in the Sunshine Room and all the good fun he has”.

The new funding for the groups’ activities which was recently announced by DSD will mean that local families will continue to benefit from the very best support available whilst enjoying hands-on sessions on everything from baby massage to older people’s activities with the whole lot in-between as well!

ANurturing Celebration Event will be held at Ballysally Primary School on Friday, June 7 from 1pm-3pm. Everyone wl be made welcome.
