NWVC volunteers sought for Food Fest

An appeal has been launched by the North West Volunteer Centre for trained NWVC volunteers to get involved in the annual LegenDerry Food Fest.

The LegenDerry Food Fest is a three-day festival in Guildhall, showcasing cookery demonstrations and children’s entertainment from March 15 to 17 inclusive.

The programme supports promotion of all food types from beef and dairy to seafood and baked goods and attracts up to 500 participants at any one time and will include a boulevard of 14 chefs, a theatre of food display, as well as producers.

An estimated 20,000 visitors are expected and the event also includes an avenue of animation market stalls which include activities for children including badge making and arts and crafts. It is a stand alone event within the St Patrick’s week programme, but with separate management and staffing.

Volunteers’ roles will include assisting the public, handing out literature and general event support. Volunteers are needed for the following tasks: Event set up assistance, literature distribution for the Seafood Trail and at restaurants across the city between 10am and 2pm.

Guildhall Square and Marquee: Literature Distribution for the Seafood Trail on site and at restaurants across the city and also support for crowd management, working on the information desk and programme explanation and light cleansing. There are two shifts for this role, 12pm to 3pm and 3pm to 6pm.
