Oakgrove Integrated Primary and Nursery school

OAKGROVE is a place where child-centredness, integration and parental involvement are central to school life. Our purpose at Oakgrove Integrated Primary and Nursery School is "Learning together for life and Celebrating diversity". We are an integrated learning community which seeks to learn together, of and from one another, regardless of ability, gender, race or creed. We hold awards as a UNICEF Rights Respecting School, International School and Health Promoting School.

Children are at the heart of our school and we consider it hugely important and appreciate that parents consider entrusting their children to our care. Learning is our core business and we believe that children learn best when they are happy. The development of high self esteem among children and staff is therefore very important at Oakgrove. This is important for the acceptance of difference as well as a good disposition for learning.

At Oakgrove we recognise parents as the prime educators of their children. We encourage a partnership approach between home and school for the benefit of our children. Oakgrove is the only Grant Maintained Integrated Primary and Nursery School in the city and was set up by parents and others interested in educating children together in 1991. Parents are involved in school life in many different ways and are well represented on the Board of Governors.
