The line-up includes not only the celebrity SOAK, otherwise known as past-pupil Bridie Monds-Watson, and Britain’s Got Talent finalist Jordan O’Keeffe, Christ Church organist Ben McGonigle as well as ten other musicians performing from different genres.

Principal Jill Markham said: “What goes to the heart of what we celebrate in the 21 years of Oakgrove is the ability of people from different backgrounds, with different skils to work together. That’s something which musicians have always shown in this city and all over the world. Where people work together to create a musical performance, there is a coming together across all sorts of other barriers which may divide in other walks of life.”

Praising the Music Promise, Ms Markham said: “It is one of the finest aspects of the City of Culture programme. We need to leave a legacy and the legacy of this evening’s performance is the confidence in the young people who attend, who perform and who know that they can keep contributing in this way throughout their lives to increase the harmony for others.”
