Businesslady Annie is laid to rest

A WELL-KNOWN retired businesslady was laid to rest on April 25 at Dromore Cathedral.

Mrs Annie Thompson, who lived on the Milebush Road, spent the last three-and-a-half years at Lissadia Private Nursing Home where she passed away in the early hours of April 22.

She was the last of a family of six daughters of the late John and Margaret Jane Gibson of Drumiller House, Dromore and leaves to sorrow at her passing her daughter Hazel, son-in-law Brian, sisters-in-law Mrs Mabel and Meta Gibson, and 19 nephews and nieces.

Annie was a member of First Dromore Presbyterian Church and sung in the choir until she married the late George Thompson of the Milebush and then attended Dromore Cathedral Parish where she was vice-President of the Girls Brigade.

The funeral service was conducted by Dean Stephen Lowry who gave a very vitting tribute. The sermon was by Rev Trevor McKeown and Mrs Gertrude Jamison presided at the organ. The hymns were ‘The Lord’s My Shepherd’ and ‘O Love That Will Not Let Me Go’.

Donations in lieu of flowers were for Dromore Cathedral Development Fund, care of RJ Poots who carried out the funeral arrangements.
