Devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother

Mrs Frances Willis passed away peacefully at Bannview Care Home on Thursday, October 29 in the presence of her loving family.

Predeceased by her husband Jos in 1995, she had reached the age of 89.

Prior to taking up residence in Bannview Care Home, Frances had resided in Mount Charles from 1960 to 2013 where she had many lifelong friends and wonderful caring neighbours.

Frances was the daughter of the late Frank and Katherine McCreanor and her early childhood was spent in Edenderry Gardens. She was the fifth of seven children and is survived by her sister Madge who currently resides in England.

Shortly after the war she married Jos and they were blessed with five children - Paul, George, John, Eleanor and Victor.

In her earlier years Frances enjoyed ballroom dancing and she and Jos were accomplished enough to win several competitions in Blackpool as a talented dancing duo.

She also enjoyed a game of bingo, prior to her health deteriorating several years ago.

In recent years Frances was a regular attender at Banbridge VIP Club and went on several trips with them which she described as some of the best holidays she had ever been on. She was a member of Holy Trinity Parish Church and took great delight in following the various services broadcast on the church radio system.

It is in the family where she will be sorely missed as she was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Frances is survived by her four sons and daughter, son-in-law Denis and daughters-in-law Barbara, Bea and Hazel, 11 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

The funeral service in Holy Trinity which was extensively attended was conducted by Rector, The Ven Roderic West.

The hymns ‘I the Lord of Sea and Sky’ and How Great Thou Art’ added to a fitting tribute to a very special lady.

The committal took place privately in the New Cemetery. Family flowers were placed on the grave and donations in lieu of flowers are being sent to William Bell and Co Funeral Directors, 23 Kenlis Street, Banbridge, BT32 3LR for Banbridge VIP Club.

William Bell and Co had charge of the funeral arrangements.
