Former Graham’s worker John Kerr passes away

Former Graham’s worker John Kerr passed away, recently at the age 
of 98.

John, from Rathfriland, was described as someone with many ‘sterling qualities and upright character.’ He passed away in Rathfriland Manor on Thursday, August 27.

His wife Mary pre-deceased him in October 2005.

John was employed on many farms around the district, at Tullymore Forest and at Graham’s 
of Dromore.

He was an ardent supporter of Manchester United FC and would have followed their progress 
on television.

He enjoyed motorbike racing and enjoyed seeing the Ulster Grand Prix, on the Dundrod Circuit.

He was also fond of his garden but recently spent the last two years in Rathfriland Manor but his main interest was centred around his home, son and granddaughter.

He was a member of Ballyroney Presbyterian Church. He is survived by his son William, his granddaughter Elizabeth.

The funeral took place from the home of his son William, Ballyroney Road, Rathfriland on Sunday when a representative body of mourners came to pay their last respects.

Rev. Trevor Boyd paid a fitting tribute to John’s life. The hymns ‘Now Thank We All Our God’ and ‘Blessed Assurance’ 
were sung. Mrs Nan Mulhall presided at the organ. The interment took place afterwards in the adjoining churchyard.

The funeral was conducted by William Bell and Co.
