Jobey’s easy going nature was one of her hallmark qualities

THE sudden passing of Mrs Josephine McGuckin at her home in Primrose Gardens on Friday April 27 came as a great shock to her family, relatives and many friends throughout the district and further afield.

Jobey, as she was known to everyone, was the dearly loved wife of the late Basil McGuckin (deceased 1984).

Jobey was born in Banbridge in 1925 and lived all her life in the town. She married schoolteacher Basil McGuckin from Magherafelt in 1948 and they went on to raise seven children together.

Her all consuming interest was her large family and Jobey can truly be said to have dedicated her life for many years afterwards to their well being.

An otherwise happy life was marred by the tragic death in 1971 of her second born son Stephen and the passing of her beloved husband Basil 28 years before her.

A lively sense of humour, an enduring kindness and her easy going nature were Jobey’s hallmark qualities and were much appreciated by the family and her wide circle of friends. She will be sorely missed

Jobey is survived by her daughter Una (Bangor), sons Paul, Kevin (London), Brendan (Bangor) Rory and John (Aberdeen) and her brother Brendan, as well as 12 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren all of whom she derived great pleasure from.

Her remains were interred in the family grave in the Dromore Road cemetery on Sunday April 30. Heaney Keenan and Co had charge of the funeral arrangements.
