Maureen loved town so much that she kept coming back to visit

THE passing of Mrs Maureen Crawford took place at Lurgan Hospital on Friday March 23. She was the dearly loved wife of the late John Robert Crawford, 38 Queen Street, Lurgan.

Maureen, who was formerly Maureen Russell from Dromore Street, Banbridge, had been living in Lurgan for some 61 years but always enjoyed her native Banbridge town and always kept returning to it.

Brought up in Banbridge she was married to a soldier who was stationed in Banbridge and was killed in action in the Second World War. After a time she met John Crawford at a dance in Banbridge Orange Hall. After this they were married in Banbridge and lived here for a while before moving to Lurgan.

They were blessed with a boy, David, and a girl, Linda, who passed away at the early age of 34. But in her latter years Maureen was tenderly cared for by her son David.

While in Banbridge she worked in the textile industry but her main interest was around her home and family and it is there that her passing will be mostly felt. Her son David would like to thank the staff of Lurgan Hospital, the Rev. M. Greenstreet and Captain G. Walmsley for the medical attention and visitations shown to her while in hospital.

She is survived by her son David and grandson David (Dee) and one sister, Mrs Jessie McCracken. To these and all other relatives sincere sympathy has been extended.

The funeral took place following a service in Holy Trinity Parish Church. The hymns ‘The Lord’s My Shepherd’ and ‘Abide with Me’ were sung. Mr Roly Anketel presided at the organ.
