Member of St Patrick’s Parish Drumbeg

Retired fitter, William Cecil Grant, latterly of Hornbeam Road, Dunmurry, died recently, aged 85, in the Lagan Valley Hospital.

Son of the late John and Annie Grant, Mr Grant, a Gilfrod native and former Dromore man, was predeceased by his wife Isobel, brother, Jackie (England) and sisters Deborah Anderson and Sadie Nesbitt.

He is survived by his daughter, Miss Denise Grant (Dunmurry) and sisters Phyllis Sinton (Portadown), Vera McDowell (Lurgan), Nan Collins (Portadown), and Maisie Ross (Canada).

Mr Grant attended St Patrick’s Parish Church, Drumbeg, where he was a member of the bowling club.

A past master of Lagandale Masonic Lodge No.521, Dromore, he was also a companion of Lambeg RAC No.565 and a member of Lisburn Masonic Bowling and Pool Club.

The Rev Willie Nixon officiated at Mr Grant’s funeral service in St Patrick’s, Drumbeg - Mr Brian Lemon presiding at the organ - prior to burial at Dromore Cemetery.

Funeral arrangements were by John Gamble, Funeral Director, Dromore and donations in lieu of flowers may be sent, if desired, to John Gamble, Funeral Director, 7 Meeting Street, Dromore, BT25 1AQ, for the Northern Ireland Chest, Heart and Stroke Association.
