Said Mr Kenny: “Having been converted as a child at a mission at Drumlough, Pearl later became involved in children’s work in the church.

“In fact, Pearl Malcomson was the first Sabbath School Teacher to be appointed when the Free Presbyterian witness commenced in the town of Dromore.

“Over the past 40 years scores of children from the area have passed through Pearl’s class, having been faithfully taught the Scriptures.”

Pearl’s funeral took place in Dromore Free Presbyterian Church on Saturday, June 27.

On behalf of the congregation Mr Kenny offered sympathy to Pearl’s husband Aubrey, son Philip, daughters Hazel and Audrey and to the wider family circle.

In paying tribute, he spoke of Pearl being a founding member of the church and that down through the years she had become an integral part of the work.

He also remarked on Pearl’s faithfulness in attendance at all the services of the church, including the midweek Prayer Meeting and the Open Air witness.

Mr Kenny highlighted how Pearl’s kindness and compassion stood out and how she was always so obliging and willing to help in any way.

The funeral sermon was based on Psalm 116 verse 15, “Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints.”

Mr Rev Kenny sought to comfort the family by drawing attention to “the blessed hope of the Gospel”, stating that at death the believer passes into the immediate presence of their Lord and Saviour.

He thanked God for the life, service and Christian witness of Mrs Malcomson.
