Was out ‘in all weathers’ tending to her garden

Mrs Smyth was highly thought of by friends and neighbours and she was well known for her love of gardening - particularly because she carried out all the work herself.

The result of her labours was a beautiful garden, much admired for its neatness and colour, and she would often be seen in all weathers out tending to her plants and flowers.

Her passing was very sudden, but peaceful and dignified and the family would like to thank everyone who sent mass or sympathy cars or who attended the home and funeral service.

Bernadette was married to the late Mr Jim Smyth and she was the sister of the late Theresa Murphy. She is survived by her sons Kieran, Jimmy, John and Philip; daughters Patricia and Bernadette; and brother Jimmy Curran. She will also be sadly missed by the entire family circle, including her son-in-law, Malachy, daughters-in-law, Deirdre, Ead and Marie, and grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She addended daily mass at St Terese Chapel, Banbridge, where she would lead pre-mass prayers along with parishioners and her devotion to the Rosary was comforting to many.

The medical team who responded so quickly have also been praised by members of the family and thanks has been conveyed to Dr De Largy, Father Wright

and Father Crossan who gave a very moving homily at the funeral service in St Therese’s Church.
