Well known car 
dealer passes away

Paddy was born on May 2, 1933 at Drumnavaddy to Charlie and Martha. He was one of eight children.

He attended Tonnaghmore School and then trained as a motor mechanic with Wright & Co in Banbridge.

He subsequently worked in various places including an aircraft factory in England before returning home to take over Annagh Motor Works in Portadown.

He eventually expanded the company into a well known motor business with premises in Portadown and Banbridge.

Paddy served two terms as dealer principal with Fiat and was well known in the local motor business and further afield.

In 1957 Paddy married Maura Jordan, together they had two sons, Stephen and Martin. The family lived in Drumnavaddy before moving to Lawrencetown in 1973.

In his early days Paddy was a keen cyclist with Banbridge Cycle Club. Later he became an enthusiastic golfer and was recently proud to be made an honorary member of Tandragee Golf Club for 40 years service. Unfortunately he was not able to visit the club again to thank them.

In his retirement Paddy was able to indulge his hobby of woodturning with family members and friends all receiving gifts of tables, chairs and clocks.

Paddy was well known for his sense of humour and as a generous host. Many will remember visiting his home, few remember leaving.

Paddy is sadly missed by his wife Maura, sons Stephen and Martin, daughters in law Patricia and Caroline, his six grandchildren - Charlie, Gareth, Danielle, Conor, Emily and Michael and his great grandson Eoin as well as his two surviving sisters Rosie and Violet and his brothers in law Brendan, Danny, Terry and Brian.

Maura and the family thanked Doctor Heanan and the staff of Portadown Health Care Centre, all the nurses and paramedics for their help and the staff of Parkes Pharmacy in Gilford.

The family especially wanted to thank the carers who attended daily and the many friends and neighbours who visited Paddy during his illness.

Father Powell who conducted the funeral service was also thanked and to Heaney Keenan Funeral Directors for the kind and professional way in which they handled the funeral arrangements.

A heartfelt thanks were also offered to all those who attended the wake or funeral and who helped in any way.
