Objections to Craigahulliar caravan park plan

The application, by Blair’s Caravans Limited, was on last Tuesday’s planning schedule as an approval, however council members voted to have an office meeting about the application.

There have been 29 objection letters submitted about the proposed park, which would house 51 touring caravans, 49 static caravans and 18 cabins.

Mayor, councillor George Duddy asked for an office meeting on the application, he said the application would be like ‘putting a small village into Craigahulliar’.

Independent Portrush councillor Christine Alexander agreed, but asked if Council’s planning consultant could attend the meeting and update members. She said a report was due about the site. Councillor Alexander pointed out that an application for a single caravan had been refused elsewhere on the schedule. “One caravan gets a refusal due to the impact on the rural area, yet here we have 119, do they not have an impact,” she asked.
