O’Dowd tops Twitter followers

Education Minister John O’Dowd is the most prolific tweeter among all the Upper Bann MLAs, according to a new survey.

The Sinn Fein MLA also has the most followers totalling 5,113. He has tweeted 2,262 times.

SDLP MLA Dolores Kelly is next on the list with the most followers, having accumulated 1879. She hasn’t quite got into tweeting just as much as her Stormont colleague having just 395 tweets so far.

Ulster Unionist Jo-Anne Dobson is third with 1861 followers and has 1176 tweets.

The DUP’s Stephen Moutray has 311 followers and has tweeted 65 times.

Ulster Unionist Samuel Gardiner and Sydney Anderson fo the DUP don’t as yet have a Twitter account.

Research was carried out by Stratagem and ComRes which found that 96% of MLAs surveyed stated that they engage with constituents through social media.
