Off with their heads! as Alice comes to life at the Playhouse

THE Indigo Moon Theatre company will bring its unique take on Alice in Wonderland to Londonderry’s Playhouse Theatre this Friday.

The UK-based Puppet theatre company is inspired by European and Asian traditions and will bring the magical story to life at the weekend.

The contemporary shadow theatre adaptation of the famous Lewis Carroll novel invites audiences to join Alice on her magical adventure as she chases the White rabbit back in time on a fantastic spiraling journey into Wonderland.

Indigo Moon Theatre’s unique take on the classic tale is inspired by English gothic mediaeval architecture/carvings found in their local church in Beverley, East Yorkshire.

The beautiful string marionette of Alice journeys through Wonderland where she meets the Cheshire Cat, a two-legged dragon and the March Hare at the mediaeval Mad Hatter’s Tea party. But beware the Queen of Hearts or you might just lose your head!

“Indigo Moon Theatre has managed to craft an original spin on the tale, using an array of techniques to bring Wonderland to life…Alice and the White Rabbit is entertaining for the young, and the young at heart,” said Paul McIlwee, Culture NI.

Áine McCarron, theatre programmer at The Playhouse said: “This is a show by a company like no other, using lifelike movement and enchanting music to create enjoyable contemporary shows and workshops with global influences.”
