Offensive remarks ‘pass custody threshold’

The nature of remarks made by a Lurgan man to police were so offensive that they passed the custody threshold, Craigavon Magistrates Court heard last Wednesday.

Nineteen-year-old Caelon Oliver Robert Curry from Soye Gardens, Lurgan, 
admitted disorderly behaviour on December 6.

The court heard that police saw the defendant tie an object to the security 
fence at Lurgan police station and walk away with two other males.

He shouted: “Ronan Kerr is blown up everywhere” 
and ‘black b—ds”.

Curry was stopped by police in Clara Street and 
he said: “Nah, take me to f—king court. I am paying 
no fine.”

District Judge, Mr Mervyn Bates, said the nature of the disorderly behaviour was so offensive it passed the 
custody threshold.

He adjourned the case to April 2 so that a pre-sentence report could be obtained.
