Office meeting for proposed Heights development

A planning application to change the house types of 13 homes planned at a site next to the former army base at Laurel Hill, has been refused by planners.

The application, at numbers 93 and 95 Strand Road, by Northbrook Business Park limited on behalf of the agent, was listed as a refusal at Coleraine Borough Council’s final Planning Committee meeting last Tuesday night.

There were four objections to the application.

Most had concerns about boundary and overlooking issues at nearby Laurel Grove. Other concerns included trees, worthy of retention at the site and the garden sizes.

Independent councillor Christine Alexander told the meeting that ‘amended plans had been submitted’ and requested an office meeting about the application.

This was seconded by SDLP councillor Stephanie Quigley.

Planners felt that the application failed to provide a quality residential environment and that the development did not demonstrate satisfactory access and parking arrangements.

An office meeting was granted for the application.
