Officers are elected for Ballymena's BB battalion

AT THE Annual General Meeting of the Ballymena and District Battalion of the Boys` Brigade members offered special thoughts and prayers for bereaved and disadvantaged families within the BB circle.

Chief Guest was Mr Kenneth McLaughlin who is training and Development Support Officer for Northern Ireland at the meeting which was held in Ballee Presbyterian Church Hall on Thursday, April 15.

Rev Joseph Andrews, Minister of the Church and Chaplin of the 9th Ballymena Company based at Ballee gave opening devotions at the meeting.

President, Mr Matt Currie welcomed members to the AGM and said it was a time to reflect on the past session, a suitable mention was given for Company Captains who had retired and those who had been appointed to this role. Mr Currie then congratulated those who had gained success during the past year.

The president then thanked all those who played a vital and important work in the smooth running of the Battalion, there was an emphasis on the work of extending Christ’s Kingdom, which is carried on week by week at Company level.

Special mention was made for Mr Billy Johnston, who retired after serving for thirty nine years as Organizer of the Battalion Cross Country Event. He was thanked for his dedication and organizational abilities.

Kenneth McLaughlin from the Northern Ireland Head Quarters at Rathmore House, Larne. He thanked the battalion for his invitation, adding that he was relatively new in the Boys` Brigade circle and it was an excellent opportunity to get to know those attached to the work in Ballymena and the District.

Kenneth went on to outline his role in Training, Development and Support, stressing he had a passion for sharing the Gospel of Christ. He then provided information on the on-going refurbishment of Rathmore House and thanked the Battalion for their financial contribution.
