Officers to consider zip line purchase

The council is to look into the possibility of purchasing a zip line for use at fun days and public events such as the Shoreline Festival.

At Monday night’s Leisure Committee meeting (October 7), Alderman John Blair and Cllr Robert Hill, in a rare moment of agreement, asked officers to look at whether or not it would be worthwhile buying a zip line, rather than hiring one for specific events.

They said the aerial runways had proven very popular at council-run events such as Youth Zone and the Shoreline Festival.

It’s understood that purchasing a zip line could cost several thousand pounds. But Alderman Blair suggested that the council could hire out the equipment to councils and other organisations for public events.
