O'Kane's growers are called to an open meeting

THE UFU are inviting all O'Kane's growers to a second meeting on Thursday, May 20, at 8pm in the Tullyglass Hotel, Ballymena, to decide what steps will be taken to assist growers who have reported a significant downturn in profitability in recent months.

All O'Kane's producers are welcome to the meeting including broiler growers, broiler breeders and turkey growers. Non UFU members are also invited to attend.

This second meeting is being held to facilitate those growers who were unable to attend the first growers meeting in Ballymoney. The large turnout of almost 70 people highlighted the level of concern with recent returns.

UFU President John Thompson, who will chair the meeting said: "We are now well aware of the seriousness of the current situation and have called this meeting to decide on what is the most appropriate course of action to help growers return to profitability quickly."
