The Londonderry DUP MLA and Lisneal old boy Gary Middleton has congratulated the Waterside school on the recent GCSE results achieved by their students.

Mr Middleton stated: “As a past pupil of Lisneal college, I have always kept a close eye on the progress of the school and the challenges it faces.

“It is a fantastic result for the school to have 84 per cent of its Year 12 students achieving five or more GCSE or vocational qualifications at grades A*-C.

“This is 19 per cent higher than the 2014 results. I congratulate all of the students on their achievements and wish them well for the future.”

Mr Middleton continued: “It is clear that the dedication and hard work of the staff, governors and students at Lisneal College is paying off and the results are proving that.

“I wish the new headmaster Michael Allen well in his new role and trust that he will continue to ensure that Lisneal college goes from strength to strength.”
