Old wartime device sparks security alert in Ballintoy

Army Technical Officers have carried out a controlled explosion after an old wartime type device washed up along a north Antrim beach.

The north Antrim security alert was sparked this morning after the wartime device was found on Tuesday night on the beach at Whitepark Bay.

A PSNI spokesman said Army Technical Officers confirmed “the item to be an old wartime type mine”.
