Olivia to star in Les Miserables

LARNE teenager, 15-year-old Olivia Gillespie, has been selected for the chorus in this summer's professional production of Les Miserables which runs next week at the new Theatre at The Mill in Newtownabbey.

Regarded as one of the most popular musicals of all time, Les Miserables is the sweeping musical adaptation of Victor Hugo’s great novel and this new adaptation will be directed by Northern Ireland’s leading musical theatre directors including Peter Corry and Wilson Sheilds and will be choreographed by Fleur Mellor.

The smash hit musical showcases the cream of Northern Ireland’s top young performers who have been taking part in the theatre’s summer youth group and Olivia was picked out of the hundreds who auditioned to star in the musical.

The teenager is currently studying for her GCSEs - including music - and hopes to have a career in musical theatre in the future.

Speaking about why she auditioned for her role, Olivia said: “I get a real thrill out of performing and I thought that this would be great experience for me in the future. I love musicals and being able to be a part of one really excites me I also hope to improve my performance skills and just enjoy it.

“It is going to be a fabulous show and a great a great opportunity to see a top quality professional version of the smash hit musical in your local theatre this summer.”
