Olympic taskfor local TA

TWENTY Territorial Army soldiers from Londonderry and Belfast are currently in London in preparation for the Olympics although the Ministry of Defence (MoD) says they were tasked there as part of a planned deployment - not as a result of recent security issues.

Local armed forces are being deployed as part of substantial support for the Games.

A spokesman explained that all three Armed Services are involved, including both Regular and Reserve Forces.
