Mr Anderson said: “I have recently been contacted by Oakridge residents who have informed me that currently some parts of the development do not have grit boxes in the vicinity.

“With the present wintry conditions it is essential that grit boxes are provided to allow residents to negotiate a steep incline situated in the area.

I have met with a Transport NI official to discuss this issue and I was informed that the part of Oakridge in question has to date not been adopted.

“As such they are not able to put grit boxes in place until such times as this takes place.

“I would hope that this road be adopted as soon as possible.

“If wintry weather conditions were to persist residents would find it difficult to leave and return to their homes safely.”

Mr Anderson continued: “I understand that this road was to have been adopted in December 2015, but this has not yet occurred.

“Once this has taken place Transport NI have agreed to immediately put grit boxes on site. I now hope that they do all they can in the coming days to ensure that this road is adopted to allow gritting issues to be dealt with properly.”
