One final chance for woman caught without insurance

Caroline Margaret Mulligan (33), Brookfield Meadows, Banbridge, was fined £300 and given eight points for not having insurance on October 21 last year.

She was also fined £75 for not having a vehicle test certificate and ordered to pay a £15 offender’s levy.

For not having a driving licence on November 7 last year she was fined £75, given three points, and ordered to pay a £15 offender’s levy.

The court heard that on October 21 police checks revealed that she was driving at Brookfield Meadows without any insurance. Her test certificate had expired on September 20.

The next day she turned up at the police station with a new policy of insurance taken out that morning and a date for an MOT test.

On November 7 she was asked by police to produce her licence but failed to do so.

A barrister representing the defendant said she had applied for a new licence and the no insurance offence was an oversight on her part.

District Judge, Mr Paul Copeland, pointed out this was her third conviction for not having insurance but he would give her one final chance.
