One from each party for Somme

EACH party on Craigavon council has the chance to nominate one representative to attend this year's Somme Pilgrimage.

When nominations were asked for the SDLP proposed Councillor Michael McGoldrick whose great grandfather fought and died in France.

The Ulster Unionists put forward three names for the trip in June which costs 550 per person.

Alderman Stephen Moutray said because of the economic situation and that a “30,000 by-election has been foisted on Craigavon” only one representative from each party should attend.

His proposal was seconded and carried.
