‘One punch video’ - man dies in London

It is understood that a man who was assaulted in the Rocavan Meadows area of Broughshane on September 19 has subsequently passed away in London.

Police sources have indicated that they are awaiting the outcome of a post-mortem.

Earlier today (October 1) police arrested a 31-year-old man following the serious assault of a 33-year-old man in the Rocavan Meadows area at approximately 7pm on Thursday, September 19. He was arrested in the Broughshane area and is currently being questioned at Ballymena Police Station.

We understand the arrest is linked to a ‘one punch’ incident, which was captured on video and posted to social media website Facebook. The video subsequently went viral attracting in the region of 5000 shares worldwide.

Police would appeal to anyone who witnessed the assault or anyone who has any information to contact detectives at Ballymena on 0845 600 8000.
