Only did nine hours community service

A 31-year-old man who only did nine hours out of a 150 hour community service order was given a two month jail sentence last Friday at Craigavon Magistrates Court.

He was Christopher Anderson, Lawrence Square, Lurgan.

On March 1 this year he was convicted of failing to declare a change of circumstances and given 150 hours community service.

But at last week’s court the probation service applied to have the order revoked because he had failed to attend on three occasions for unpaid work.

Mr Conor Downey, defending, said his client had mental health issues.

Later in the court the defendant was released on bail to appeal the sentence.
