Open Day for Moira Friendship Group

MOIRA Friendship Group plans to launch its Autumn 2012 programme at its Open Day on September 4, with an exciting and varied range of activities for people over 50, living in Moira and the surrounding area.

The independent and cross community group has its own Management Board and recently celebrated its 10th Anniversary, by winning the Mayor’s Award for Volunteering in the Age Category.

Established with the aim of promoting Friendship among older people the group operates from St. Johns Parish Hall in Moira.

The Autumn programme includes, walking groups, arts and crafts, painting, pilates, 50+ aerobics, bridge, bowls, badminton and many others. Information talks, day trips and social events are also part of what the group offers, with the aim of satisfying the need of the community.

Tom Hughes, Chairperson of Moira Friendship Group is urging everyone to come to their Open Day that takes place from 10am to 4pm on September 4 in St. Johns Parish Centre, Main Street, Moira.

“Absolutely everyone is welcome to come to our Open Day,” he said. “Drop in at any time to experience the taster sessions and activities on offer.

You can enrol as a member and have morning coffee/light lunch/afternoon tea.”
