24 hours lighting is such a waste

OVER the last few months a number of comments have appeared on this page regarding the improvements to the corners of the Hillhall Road near O’Kane Foods and many of these comments have been critical of the scheme.

I use the road several times a day and I think the work has greatly improved the visibility and safety of this part of a very busy road and when the anti-skid surface is finished it will further improve safety.

However I am utterly disgusted by the waste of electricity following the alterations to the road. During mid January nine new street lights were erected and connected within a few days but these lights have been burning 24 hours a day since connection!

I would have thought it would not have been difficult to connect the new lighting system to a timeswitch as is the practice with other such road lighting schemes.

Shame on you Roads Service for allowing this waste of power to continue for over four months.
