A smile is nice but...

IN response to a letter in your paper on May 11 about supporting small traders I would say as customers we have two options.

Go to your local shop, pay double for your goods and have them packed neatly into bags, get a nice smile and a wee chinwag. A tin of dog food in a local garage is £1.29 and the same item in the big store is 66p. Such a big difference.

Option two is go to the big store, race round like a headless chicken then at the checkout stuff all your goods - that usually can be done for you - into bags. Fairy liquid and fairy cakes in one bag, pay the gloomy assistant who may or may not give you a smile then rush off with barely a grunt.

Personal services is lovely but it is definitely not free so in summing up when the local shop stop charging crazy prices we will support them.
