Action, not talk, needed on dog fouling

AS spring approaches more and more people will begin to take walks throughout the city. I sincerely hope that when they do, they will no longer have to see what I have seen on my regular walks over the past few months - dog mess spread across the city.

I noticed a fellow reader had a similar problem just a couple of weeks ago, and they were curious about the Council’s ‘tough’ new measures. I have to say, I too am curious about the results of this policy introduced last autumn, which vowed to produce on-the-spot fines and court proceedings for dirty dog owners.

As a dog lover and life-long owner of a pet, I take my dog on regular walks through Wallace Park, together with my poop-scoop bag. It really is not that difficult to take a minute to clear up after my pet, and I have to say that walking through the beautifully refurbished park should be a pleasure. It most definitely wasn’t last week when the pathways through the park were covered in mess.

I most definitely do not blame the dogs, but I do blame their dirty owners. I would also like to know what happened to the Council’s new regime? What has happened to the on-the-spot fines? How many have been handed out? I haven’t noticed any reduction in the mess across the city and I’m very disappointed.

There has been enough talking and threats to get touogh. Start dishing out the fines.
