All trust in the DUP has gone, claim

As party leader, in 2005 he promised the DUP would never form a government with Sinn Fein.

This promise sat well with the Unionist people and at the Stormont elections, the DUP trounced the UUP because the people trusted Ian Paisley Snr to keep his word.

Fast forward to 2007, the DUP agree to form a government with Sinn Fein, and in that single action, dismiss the trust the people had placed in the DUP as completely irrelevant.

We are about to take part in a General Election so maybe we should look closely at some other DUP decisions.

We have Mr J Spratt a DUP MLA who wants to give his assembly seat to the Unionist/Tory candidate in South Belfast if she withdraws from the Westminster election. What about the people who voted for him to represent them at Stormont!

Amongst the articles the party signed up to at Hillsborough, is - Parades, Section2 page15 paragraph11 of the document.

The DUP will support direct dialogue between the Loyal Orders, Band Parade Organisers, local residents & other interested stakeholders, they also agree to in Section4 Page14 point 5- A code of conduct on parades, which is legally enforceable.

In Section5 Para1 it states, The First Minister and Deputy First Minister will “oversee an exercise of examining the St. Andrews Agreement and, identify all matters contained within it which have not been faithfully implemented or actioned” This includes “The expansion of North/South Parliamentary links”.

In my humble opinion the DUP have deserted their voters in search of power and prestige.

Never in living memory has such political deception been perpetrated from within on the Unionist people.

It should prove difficult for the DUP to regain the trust of the Unionist Electorate.

In a moral world, it should be impossible for them to do so.
