Arrests made after arson

Police in Limavady have made several arrests following two separate arson incidents in the town in recently.

On Tuesday, April 2, police were made aware of a fire along the river embankment at Roemill Road. Two teenage boys aged 16 and 17 were subsequently arrested and released pending further enquiries.

Meanwhile officers on routine patrol the following day discovered a fire in the same area and arrested four youths aged between 11 and 14 on suspicion of arson a short distance away. All four were released pending further enquiries.

This area of embankment is a retaining structure and if found to be structurally damaged could cost hundreds of thousands of pounds replace. Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incidents or has any information to contact them on 0845 600 8000.
