Award for council HR team

Newtownabbey Borough Council’s HR department picked up the Human Resource Services Award at the recent Northern Ireland Local Government Awards.

The judges praised the council’s ‘Big results require a big people’ plan for “clearly demonstrating the alignment of their HR Strategy with corporate objectives.” They also commended the council for showing “clear evidence of leadership by senior human resource management” and “positive engagement with trade unions and other stakeholders.”

“With Antrim being a finalist in the same category I believe this shows our residents that together we value engagement with residents and all stakeholders in making our new Antrim/Newtownabbey the best council in the country,” said Cllr Robert Hill, vice-chair of the Statutory Transition Committee.
