Consumer Council Handbooks available from Deputy Mayor

DEPUTY Mayor Alan Robinson has obtained a batch of the latest Consumer Council Consumer Advice Booklets, and is offering anyone interested to pick up a copy from him.

In a statement, he said: “Anyone wishing to obtain a copy of this 145 page handbook can avail of one by calling into the DUP Office at Catherine Street.

“The simple to read booklet is packed full of information for consumers needing help with a whole range of questions and problems regarding consumer rights and how to complain effectively.

“For example if someone needs help and advice about faulty goods or poor service this guide provides information on what the law says and what consumer protection is available. Issues arising from Air travel, benefits, buses, electricity, estate agents, funerals, healthcare, oil, housing, junk mail, water and many more are all covered within the booklet.

“There is also an A–Z list of helpful organisations that can be of assistance. I would encourage the public to pick up a free copy but I suspect there will be considerable demand and therefore they will be issued on a first come, first served basis.”
