Councils and Community Groups looking to the future

COMMUNITY engagement workshops are being held to discuss how the new Causeway Coast and Glens Council, community groups and other interested individuals can best work together in the future.

The workshops have been organised by the four councils - Ballymoney, Coleraine, Limavady and Moyle, which will merge in 2015.

This consultation will form a new Community Development Framework across the four Council areas.

Organisers want to hear the views and ideas of all community groups and interested individuals on what types of community services and support - capacity building, networking, resourcing the sector, mentoring and information provision - are needed now and in the future.

Two workshops will run on Thursday, February 28, the first from 2.30 – 4.00pm at Limavady Borough Council, 7 Connell Street and the second from 6.00 – 7.30pm at Coleraine Town Hall, The Diamond.

A further two workshops will take place on Wednesday, March 6, the first from 1.30 - 3.00pm at the Joey Dunlop Centre 33 Garryduff Road, Ballymoney and the second from 6.30 – 8.00pm Sheskburn House 7 May Street, Ballycastle.

The survey will be analysed by Community Places, which is advising the four councils on this work. All responses will be confidential. Community Development Officer with Limavady Borough Council, Catherine Farrimond said: “This is an important piece of work and will give local communities an opportunity to shape how the Framework will look and work.

“I would encourage as many groups as possible to attend the event in Limavady.”
