Dismay at commemoration

I am dismayed that Antrim/Newtownabbey Borough Council have decided to '˜commemorate the Easter Rising of 1916'.

Whilst we look at the Battle of Somme and the great sacrifice from these parts, the Easter Rising was a very different ‘kettle of fish’.

There was rebellion in Dublin whilst our nation was fighting the scourge of the Kaiser’s Germany.

These 1916 rebels then regarded Germany and Turkey as allies.

So why assist in an attempted re-write of history - if the Ulster Unionists are trying to be ‘politically correct’ on this they have got it very wrong and the electorate must ask many questions.
