Draw some inspiration in Limavady

To celebrate its second birthday, the Roe Valley Arts and Cultural Centre in Limavady is hosting free family creative activities on Saturday, October 13, 2012.

Running from 11.30am-2pm, the Drawing Inspiration event will feature a range of brilliant free activities including face painting, balloon modelling, and fantastic, engaging art activities, including huge doodling sheets, for all to participate in which will feature in The Big Draw, the national campaign to promote the value of drawing.

The highlight of the day will be a live performance by local Paddy Nash and the Happy Enchiladas in the Centre’s Drumceatt Square from 12noon-1.30pm.

Since the release of their critically acclaimed debut album in 2010, Paddy and his Happy Enchiladas have played the clubs of Ireland North and South as well as an extensive tour of England playing the legendary Hope & Anchor among others.

Their unique blend of Folk-Pop-Punk has left audiences revelling in the rich lyrics and big melodies. Paddy has also enjoyed huge solo success playing the LeftField stage at Glastonbury Festival in 2011 and supporting Billy Bragg on his Irish Tour.

With the recent release of their superb album ‘Times of Transition’, Paddy and his happy enchiladas will be bracing the weather to serenade the town with their unique sound.

Desima Connolly, Arts and Cultural Services Officer, said: “We opened two years ago on 29 October 2010. It has been a rollercoaster few years, in which we have introduced a top quality arts and heritage programme for the local communities, as well as enticing patrons from a lot further afield and we want everyone to come along on Saturday, 13 October to the Drawing Inspiration event and help us celebrate.”
