Dunaghy members say thanks

From mid afternoon many cars were parked along the parade route as spectators started to gain the best vantage points for the procession of bands that was to follow. Before the parade there was a range of entertainment to keep all ages amused.

Fancy dress characters mingled with the crowds giving out sweets while children queued up for a go on the bouncy castles, many with their faces painted.

In High Street many braved the elements of the early evening rain showers to watch the ever popular Skullduggery. This was followed a short military display by the B Special Historical Platoon from Tyrone.

As always the main attraction of the evening was the procession of bands, led this year by the Vow Accordion Band.

The procession left from the North Road at 8.30pm and one and a half hours later a total of 47 bands had completed the route and returned to the car park with a particularly strong representation from Ballymoney and surrounding towns and villages. Regardless of the damp evening, from start to finish the route was lined with spectators who remained to applaud the hosts who were as always looking and playing well.

Finally we would like to express our appreciation to all those who made their annual parade such a success including Vow Accordion Band for leading the parade, the participating bands, the general public who supported the parade. Skullduggery, the B Special Historical Platoon, bouncy castles, the cartoon characters, face painters, the collectors, marshals, the local businesses and the PSNI for their help with traffic management. The street collection on the evening amounted to £3,200.
