Electricity workers praised

Deputy Mayor Alan Robinson, alongside his father and DUP colleague George Robinson, has congratulated all the staff who worked over the weekend to restore water and electricity supplies throughout the Limavady Borough.

George Robinson said: “Over Saturday and Sunday, the Deputy Mayor and I visited many of those who had lost their electricity supply. We were greatly impressed at the number of NIE staff who were involved in the mammoth task to reconnect everyone to the mains supply despite the very difficult weather conditions that prevailed.

“To all those staff involved we would both like to send congratulations and thanks for all the efforts that they made to aid those whose mains connection was lost.

“We both appreciate that their was distress and inconvenience to households and businesses, but ask that people understand that the engineers were having great difficulties in reaching faults due to blocked roads.

“These men and women have risked their own safety to help all those who lost power. We have nothing but admiration for them.

“Personally, I understand that the Executive is to examine ways in which they can assist those caught up in this severe weather, but no details are available yet. Any help that can be given I know will be appreciated.”
