‘Fight Night’ in Greysteel next weekend

THE first ever charity ‘fight night’ to be held in Greysteel will take place on Saturday night on August 25 in the Vale Centre, with proceeds going towards local GAA club Faughanvale.

During their preparation at Dungiven ABC, those who are brave enough to enter the ring were graced by the presence of Paul ‘Dudey’ McCloskey, who passed on some of his vast boxing knowledge to the fighters.

A spokesperson for Faughanvale said: “Those taking part include players from not only the Faughanvale club, but also neighbouring clubs, and a couple of local ‘celebrities’. One of the fighters has actually planned a visit home from Australia around the event to make sure he can take part.

“Faughanvale GAA club are delighted to be able to announce our first ever Fight Night, and this event would not be possible without the valued assistance of Dungiven ABC, and the Management at the Vale Centre.

“It is very refreshing to see three local community organisations working together to allow us to bring Boxing back to our community, and the event is the talk of the village so it has most definitely caught the attention of people. A limited number of tickets, priced at £10 each are available from the Vale Centre, or any Faughanvale GAA committee member. The first bout gets underway at 8.00pm. Seconds out!”
