French rugby team to visit Limavady

A rugby team from Vigneux-sur-Seine near Paris, a community twinned with Limavady, will be visiting Limavady in the first weekend in April.

The visiting rugby team will play against a team from Limavady Rugby Club. The Mayor of Vigneux has also indicated his intention to accompany the team for a part of their visit, according to a local council officer.

Limavady Borough Council’s ‘Twinning Committee’ will “take charge of the arrangements, including organising a concert” in the Roe Valley Arts and Cultural Centre on April 5, 2013, featuring “many of the previous exchange groups who have gone to Vigneux or Westport on an exchange visit,” according to Director of Development Services at Limavady Borough Council.

She added: “A request has been made to Council to host a small reception for the Mayor and visitors on the evening of the concert to welcome them to Limavady. It is recommended that a small reception with finger buffet be hosted in the Centre for the visitors and Twinning Committee representatives. There is a small surplus left in the twinning budget for this year which can be held over to accommodate this request.”

Her recommendation was that: “Council agree to host a small buffet reception for the Mayor of Vigneux-sur-Seine, visiting rugby players and twinning representatives either prior to the concert or during the interval.”
