Greystone Road traffic problems

Deputy Mayor, Alan Robinson has called for a traffic assessment to be carried out at the junction of Greystone Road and Broad Road.

The local DUP councillor said: “Those wishing to access the bypass from Greystone Road during peak times often find themselves caught in a lengthy queue. I have personally witnessed tailbacks stretching back to near the entrance to Newton Road during early evening rush hour. The junction however appears to service traffic very well during off peak periods.

“The last survey carried out was back in 2004 when the maximum length of queue monitored then was 17 vehicles while the maximum delay experienced by a driver was four minutes 56 seconds. With additional development in that area and the extra traffic frequenting those businesses I would be confident that any assessment would return a worse outcome. We have therefore asked Roads Service for an up to date survey which I hope will determine what adjustments could potentially be carried out in the future that could help to alleviate this issue for rush hour commuters.”
