It’s parents’ jobto get childrento school

I am writing to vent my anger about an article that appeared in your newspaper last week regarding free school buses.

In my day, parents were responsible for making sure their children got to and from school.

Your article shows us yet again how the parents of young children today look to the state to provide freebies and handouts to “help” them raise their children.

Frankly, I am disgusted that the SEELB is giving some parents a “daily allowance” to make sure their children get to school - that’s the parents’ job, not the taxpayers’!

The money that’s being handed out to those families would be better spent on making sure SEELB employees jobs are safe and protecting the future of education in this country.

As a taxpayer, why should I pay compensation to families when the inconvenience caused to them is a result of their own decision?

More than irritated.
