Let Unionists celebrate their heritage - reader

SIR, Here we go again the past few years there is a problem with the flags at Ballybogey.

The people of Ballybogey for the past 100 years or more have celebrated the marching season by demonstrating their proud heritage by flying flags around the area.

As we know in recent years the Ballybogey village has been developed and the population has more than doubled with new families adding to the numbers.

It now appears that some residents have decided that the Orange heritage celebrated for many years should be either diluted or disappear altogether.

They should have realised when they decided to move into the area that flags would fly during the marching season as they always have done.

Every time the flags issue is raised there follows conflict between neighbours, so I say to those people let the Unionist people of Ballybogey celebrate their traditional values and heritage in peace and quiet and in the manner it has been celebrated for all these years.
