List of broken promises endless - reader

SIR, As this is last letter I can pen to your paper before the general election I would like to remind the Protestant/loyalist/unionist voters of North Antrim a few things.

Do you vote for a party/individual who for years told us one thing then completely turned turtle and did the opposite? Do you vote for a man who espouses loyalty on his poster and has no flag either union or Ulster on said poster. This individual’s party has agreed a document along with their so called enemies on parading. It does the loyal orders or our bands no favours.

I would remind our people that North Antrim was the only area, I repeat only area, where the majority voted no on the Good Friday Agreement.

Who in our area is standing on the values and principals that the loyalist community here aspire to? You the voter need to think long and hard when you go to put your mark on voting paper on Thursday . Who promised to stand firm against the Good Friday Agreement then signed up to the St. Andrew's agreement without a by your leave to the Protestant voters in Northern Ireland?

I have heard moderate nationalists might vote for their partner in crime in North Antrim to stop another unionist candidate taking seat. How bad a reflection is that on the said party.

This party and their elected people sit by and let Matt Baggot say that the Dissidents are as bad as the street gangs of Brixton in the eighties.

Having lived in England I can assure you the Dissidents are a far more serious threat than Brixton gangsters. Don't remember Brixton thugs leaving car bombs at police stations or court houses or clinically killing soldiers or policemen.

What do they think an extra two hundred odd extra reserve police will do to stop threat. We have been told it is for short time then they will go. Have the Dissidents given a timetable of when they will stop activities! don't think so.

The list of broken promises is endless so I urge unionist voters in North Antrim to vote with their head and not their heart on the 6th of May.
