Belfast firm HeartSine Technologies provided the popular Merville Garden Village venue with one of its latest medical devices to help highlight the urgent necessity for all public buildings to have one installed.

David Milliken, chairperson of Merville Residents’ Association, said: “In the interests of all users of our premises we are well prepared for a possible cardiac arrest scenario.

“We are very delighted to obtain the defibrillator which will doubtless enhance our current first aid apparatus. At the same time we hope we won’t have to use it.”

Leeanne McCullough of HeartSine Technologies, who handed the defibrillator over to members of the proactive community group, added: “Although HeartSine Technologies is a leader in biomedical research on the world stage, as a home-grown company we like to maintain a strong link with local communities throughout Northern Ireland, to alert them of the necessity of having a permanent on-site portable heart defibrillator that could potentially help save lives.

“Providing Merville Residents’ Association with one of our high-tech devices is indicative of that policy.”
